A1. BPO Services can be largely categorized into - Voice and Non-Voice.
Voice Centre, commonly called call-centres, deals with Customer Sales, Technical Support or other help-lines over a phone line. These could be outbound calls for direct product sales, lead generation, market research campaigns etc. or inbound calls for Customer Care.
Non-Voice BPO activities deal with data or Transaction Processes for large organizations across different geographical territories or countries.
Voice-based jobs have fast become a nightshift slog. Non-voice services on the other hand promise stability and are applicable in a wide range of domains like:
Airlines/transportation, Securities, H R Services, Litigation services, Research, Financial services, Insurance, Data processing, Healthcare
Hence, a need for a specialized training to impart the required skills in the field of Non-Voice.

A2. Skillspan is a specialised institute imparting education to its students who would be trained to join the BPO industry in the NON VOICE domain.
For example, in finance and accounting we would help the students to learn all about the processes that are run and used in organizations globally. The courses offered are short term in nature and vocational in flavour. The Objective of the institute, on the one hand, is to create a kind of finishing school for the entry-level students and on the other be an institute focused on upgrading vocational skills for the industry workforce. Our content is neither taught at the graduation level nor in management schools and that in many ways makes us unique - a sort of a first of its kind.

A3. The inception of Skillspan was primarily the brainchild of a group of IT and ITES professionals who have exhaustive experience in both setting up and running mid- to large- sized BPO. The core group brings with it immense experience and knowledge.

A4. Currently we are offering the following courses: BPO Fundamental Studies and ADMC (Foundation and Advanced). The BPO Fundamental Studies Course is an elementary course which would help its students acquaint themselves with BPO culture and practices. It has two components, which could be defined as follows:
- About BPOs and Global awareness (US and UK Culture, time zones etc)
- Technical and soft skill training
This is a course for entry level people and does not restrict the student from going into any kind of BPO (either finance & accounting or health care or BFI etc.) It helps the student to understand the environment better in which he is expected to work.
The ADMC courses on the other hand are specifically for people who would want to pursue a career in Finance and Accounting. The course does not attempt to teach its student basic accounting (that is a prerequisite for the course) but teaches them global accounting rules, laws and practices which govern the function of large corporations across the globe
The course has two parts and to get a comprehensive idea the students should go through both.

A5. Yes, one can look at doing only one part (eg on Foundation) and get suitable employment however appreciation and more comprehensive understand of F&A would come if he goes through both the parts.

A6. The time duration of the course is as follows:-
BPO Fundamental Studies 60 hours 4 weeks
ADMC Foundation 60 hours within 4-5 weeks
ADMC Advance 72 hours within 4-5 weeks

A7. These courses are Vocational courses and not broad based educational courses thus they are short. But the teaching is very intense. The philosophy behind this is that we would like the student to “learn and earn” in the shortest time frame. The course have been designed to be intensive and not extensive (we could also do the same course of 144 hours of teaching over 32 weeks or 8 months if we taught one session a day and 3 days a week.) the idea is not to stretch the course but to teach the student fast and help him to get a job faster.
As the course content has been designed in such a fashion that about 40% of the content is taught through practice. This should help the student assimilate the information better and faster- than just using the old traditional way of doing theory session. We use a lot of modern techniques such as simulation of live business problems, roles plays, Case studies, HR games to help them understand complex business situations in a more comprehensive manner

A8. We guarantee that we would have you interviewed by at least three top BPO companies upon graduation.

A9. The eligibility criteria for admission to the institute are as follows:-
BPO Fundamental Studies Any discipline Graduate Any University
ADMC Foundations Graduate in Commerce Any University
ADMC Advance Graduate in Commerce Any University
CA Inter / CS/ MBA Finance etc
The ADMC has an entry level test - which would be a simple 20 to 30 mins test - testing for their Accounting and reason skill levels.
In case of CA Inter (cleared) / CS with working experience a direct entry into the Advance course could be made. A work exp. of about 2-3 years would be required. For freshers it’s not recommended that they skip the Foundation course and go for the Advance course directly

A10. No we are not a government backed institute nor are we linked to any University. We are an institute working very closely with the BPO industry and concentrating on job-oriented skills. Also as they form the end customers for us it is more important to work closely with them.

A11. Yes, we do have people from industry coming and sharing their experiences with our students - which makes them understand better the working environment they are getting into

A12. The foundation course is really designed for a participant who is an entry-level person in this Accounting chain. He is made familiar with the very basic of the accounting process.
The Advanced course on the other hand, is focused for people who have spent some years working and comprehend the basics of accounting. Thus it addresses issues of technology and transition and process excellence which really is beyond the basics and is at the next level.

A13. We are different from other institutes in two ways - firstly we do not offer literacy courses but highly specialised courses for the BPO sector and that too in various domains. Most of our courses are not for school children and college students and housewives (like most computer course) but are for a very focused target audience.
Secondly our courses are very specialised in nature and they prepare its students for a very specific discipline or domain within the BPO industry.

A14. There are two issues here that the student needs to understand for a question like this.
Will I be able to join a leading MNC in an non-voice process with my current level of qualifications?
Thus a professional training would help him to grow faster within the organization he joins and equips him to handle issues better. This investment should be seen in a long run growth perspective.

A15. The Salary Structure would be approximately as follows:-
General Associate Average salary of Rs. 6000 PM plus Rs. 2000 for incentives
Accounts Associate Average salary of Rs.10000 PM plus Rs. 3000 for incentives
ROI for the Fundamental Studies course would be 6 Month for the General Associate
ROI for the ADM Foundation Course would be 7Month for the Accounts Associate
ROI for the ADM Advance Course would be 8 Months for the Accounts Associate
ROI for the Both ADMC Course would 15 Month

These calculations are based on the average incentive earned.
